Curious: Young New York Mets fan achieves this after catching two fouls almost consecutively | The USA Print

The deplorable season of the New York Mets, with one of the best payrolls in all of baseball, had one of the most curious moments of all of 2023 when a fan managed to catch two balls that ended in foul almost consecutively.

In a span of three pitches, Patrick Wedderburn, a 23-year-old Mets fan, caught the pair of balls during the 8th inning of the home team’s 5-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

Wedderburn, who was in the fifth row of the second deck behind home plate, received the first hit from Cincinnati batter TJ Friedl, when after passing up a pitch he fired a second foul ball that again fell into the young man’s hands.

As if that were not enough, the fan’s curiosity was not the only one wrapped around him. Wedderburn was at the stadium celebrating his mother Christa’s birthday, to whom he decided to give the balls. Like a memory that will be very difficult to forget.

“Before I could even think about it, the second one was right behind me,” Patrick said when interviewed by SNY.

Although Wedderburn’s story seems difficult to match, On other occasions it has been seen that fans manage to catch two balls in the same turn of a batter.

One of the anecdotes belongs to a child fan of the Miami Marlins who during a game against the Kansas City Royals in 2019 managed to catch two foul balls in right field in an interval of four pitches.

The little boy became the sensation of the night at LoanDepot Park and was even interviewed by the Fox Sports network.
